The Education Through Culture and Communication Organisation (ECCOGambia) is a Non-governmental organisation promoting cultural education and cultural entrepeneurship. We are running courses in West African Music, Dance and Storytelling for University Students from Europe and the US as well as training local education students in traditional music and dance. We assist Community Based Organisations in the construction of cultural camps and train Community Groups in the management of cultural camps. We promote culture as a tool for communication and information to community-groups in health- issues and democracy-issues. ECCO Gambia is spearheading the Culture Kids program in The Gambia in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Tourism and Culture ECCO is based on the idea of local ownership and management of all our projects to ensure a sustainable future of activities. ECCO is also based on the idea of full transparency in our projects and towards our partners, therefore elected delegates from the education programme and the community camp programme are members of our Board of Trustees.
